“Love, Pinkie” is a book that was birthed out of my heart to bless the younger generation of girls.
I was young at that age too. Looking back, problems then didn’t seem to be as hard as now. However, living at that moment with a tender heart and malleable mind, the giants are big enough to be heartbreaking and stressful. Each stage of life has issues that are unique to that particular point in time. Life might be easier if I had a mentor to walk me through life. Hence this book serves as a pseudo mentor to those who find themselves alone in troubled waters.
What girls face are sometimes very different from the guys. Even with the same problem, the different genders respond differently too. So this book is written by a girl (I was in my early twenties), to girls who are grappling with various issues. Some of the issues are personal, but there are others that I have added in based on other people’s experiences (such as abortion). I shared my insights and thoughts from a Christian point of view. Bible verses to round up the respective issue presented in each chapter.
Everyone’s beliefs are based on something, and mine are grounded in the Bible. For non-Christians, you might treat these Bible verses like good quotes you find floating in the internet. As for Christians, it’s good to know that the bible is the book of ages, relevant even in this day and age. Nothing new under the sun.
Of course, as I age with wisdom, there are advice I like to add or delete from the book, probably to rewrite the whole book even. As I learn more about the grace of God, I cringe that I might be too legalistic in the book. And as I learn more about English language and writing, there are sentences I like to restructure and grammar to edit.
But I believe the essence of the book is inspired by God and hence I wrote with understanding beyond my own human’s wisdom. So you can still glean from them and be blessed. And if you are past the early years, you can still sow the seeds in the young ones. 🙂
